Yummy Hamburger Steak Brown Gravy Recipes
If you want to talk about comfort food...mashed potatoes with salisbury steak and gravy pretty much
sums it up! Warm, tasty and reminding us of days growing up with our mom busy cooking in the kitchen. Like many
dishes, there are several ways to make salisbury steaks based on what you like. There are a few
hamburger steak brown gravy recipes below. I would love
to hear what your favorite way to make salisbury steak is!
Hamburger Steak and Brown Gravy Recipe 1
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 3 tbsp steak and hamburger seasoning mix
- 2 tbsp onion flakes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1/3 cup red wine
- 2/3 cup cold water
- 2/3 cup brown gravy mix
- 3 cups boiling water
Directions.
- 1. Combine first 4 ingredients. Shape into 6 patties and cook to desired doneness.
- 2. Heat butter in another skillet and add mushrooms. Saute.
- 3. Meanwhile, combine wine and cold water; stir in gravy mix. Whisk mixture into
boiling water and cook until thickened.
- 4. Stir mushrooms into brown gravy.
- 5. Place hamburger steaks on a serving platter and top with brown gravy.
Hamburger Steak and Brown Gravy Recipe 2
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 package Lipton onion soup mix
- 1 package brown gravy mix
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 tbsp chives
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (rounded)
- 1 large onion, sliced into rings
- 1 bell pepper, sliced into rings
- 6 fresh mushrooms sliced
- 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Directions
- 1. Mix brown gravy mix with enough water to make it pasty and get all the lumps out.
- 2. Dissolve bouillon cubes in 1 1/2 cups water.
- 3. Add brown gravy mix.
- 4. Bring to a boil.
- 5. Dissolve cornstarch in enough water to get the lumps out of it, then add about 1 cup of water to it.
- 6. Add spices and Worcestershire sauce to this as well.
- 7. Make ground beef patties. Mix in some of the Lipton soup mix if desired.
- 8. Place patties into baking dish.
- 9. Layer onions and pepper on them.
- 10. Pour gravy over top of all and bake in a preheated 375 degree F oven for 45 mintues.
Easy Hamburger and Mushroom Gravy Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb hamburger
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup cereal crumbs
- 2 tbsp catsup
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Pepper to taste
- 1 can mushroom soup
Directions
- 1. Mix all ingredients in order except soup.
- 2. Form into large patties and roll lightly in flour.
- 3. Brown both sides in butter.
- 4. Mix soup with one can water. Pour over meat patties and simmer covered for 45 minutes.
Hamburger Steak With Sweet Onion-Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (your choice)
- 1 pound ground round
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 (1.2 oz) envelope brown gravy mix
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 (8 oz) package sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 medium-size sweet onion, halved and thinly sliced
Directions
- 1. Process bread slices in a food processor 10 seconds or until finely chopped.
- 2. Place breadcrumbs in a mixing bowl; add ground round and next 4 ingredients.
- 3. Gently combine until blended, using your hands.
- 4. Shape into 4 (4-inch) patties
- 5. Whisk together brown gravy mix and 1 1/2 cups water.
- 6. Cook patties in hot oil in large skillet over medium-heat 2 minutes on each side or just until browned.
Remove patties from skillet. Add mushrooms and onion to skillet, and saute 6 minutes or until tender.
- 7. Stir in prepared gravy, and bring to a light boil. Return patties to skillet, and spoon gravy over each patty.
- 8. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 8 to 10 minutes.
Crockpot Hamburger Steak and Brown Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 to 2 1/2 pounds of ground beef
- salt
- pepper
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- Flour
- 2 packages of brown gravy mix
- Cornstarch
Directions
- 1. Mix ground beef, salt, pepper, eggs, worcestershire sauce, and bread crumbs.
- 2. Make hamburger mixture into patties.
- 3. Roll each patty in flour and brown on both sides in skillet.
- 4. Place the hamburgers in a crock pot.
- 5. Follow the directins on the packages of the brown gravy mix.
- 6. Pour gravy over the steaks in the crockpot.
- 7. Turn on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the hamburgers are tender
- 8. If your gravy gets too thick, just add a little water or broth. If it is too thin, add some
cornstarch to thicken it.
